FLAWs
All characters and creatures in Sovereign’s Rest possess Inherent Flaws. These Flaws are not optional and must be actively roleplayed at all times.
Fantasy and Supernatural Races possess different flaws based on their original mythology and lore, and those weaknesses should still be reflected within roleplay. We have added a few flaws that all races have. (listed below). Players should also take the flaws that are in the character's original lore.
There are no limits on how many flaws your character has. Personal flaws or weaknesses are also welcome.
FLAWs in sovereign's rest
When people on arrive on the island they can feel that something it off. They may not know it right away but overtime they learn of weakenesses and their powers feeling a bit off. The energy of the island that all inabitants use is different and even for the most experience it can take some getting used to. As time goes on everyone becomes use to the changes. The reasons for the changes is not entirely known.
The following flaws below are ones that all characters on fantasy and Supernatural characters in Sovereign's Rest have.
Power Levels
No race is at full potential with its powers or abilities, as all are unknowingly being drained. This pull is not overwhelming, but players will notice their powers and abilities are not at full strength, something that can be attributed to being in a different place and out of time. This exists to keep powers and abilities balanced.
This applies to all abilities equally, including magical, supernatural, and enhanced physical racial abilities.
The more anyone attempts to use their powers or abilities, the more tired they will become—no one can use them indefinitely. Players are expected to roleplay accordingly.
Fire

Fire affects all creatures.
It does hurt
It can slow movement and cause lasting damage.

Silver or Iron
Silver: All creatures considered “dark-aligned” have an aversion to silver (e.g., demons, vampires, werewolves, etc.). Silver on the island is limited but has been brought in through travelers and can also be found in mines and jewelry.
Iron: Harmful to “light-aligned” creatures (e.g., fae, elves, fauns, etc.). Iron is also found in mines and caves across the island.
Effects:
When applied to the skin (such as in chains or restraints), these materials burn the flesh. As long as contact remains, they continue to cause pain, even for beings with rapid healing. They are commonly used for restraint or capture due to their effectiveness.
Neither iron nor silver will kill a creature, but they are highly effective for immobilization or torture. If ingested or introduced into wounds, the affected character will become bedridden for several days until healing is provided by the Hollowed Eye Circle.
Alignment Flaws
Alignment is a defining flaw trait in Sovereign’s Rest. Characters with darker alignments must consistently reflect that nature in their personality, motivations, and actions.
A common issue in roleplay is players choosing darker characters for their abilities while attempting to redeem or soften them over time. This undermines core character flaws that define them. Vampires, for example, feed on humans, and werewolves may become feral and dangerous even to those they care about. Emotional triggers can also cause sudden shifts that lead to harmful or uncontrollable behavior.
While in pop culture we have seen characters like this change but that only works when they are only one in the story doing that. If you pay attention to the other races in those shows, they don't shift. Where it hurts in a roleplay setting, its not a unique idea. In fact to many players try and do it and overall weakens the race.
IIn Sovereign's Races, those flaws do not go away and cannot be ignored. If you don't want to play a dark character, then choose a character from the light alignment. The nature of these races is a core part of their identity and should remain consistent throughout gameplay.
This structure exists to maintain meaningful conflict within the world. If all characters were inherently honorable or morally aligned in the same direction, narrative tension, character interaction, and story development would be significantly reduced.
